Casper (2022)

Project

FastGhost https://www.fastghost.eu

Funding

EU H2020 FET-OPEN

Target application

Quantum ghost imaging

Main characteristics

Two SPAD-based 100×100 pixel arrays with 17- m pitch with on-chip
correlation.

Description

The two arrays correlate the detected photons with the ones detected
by an (external) bucket detector exploiting two different mechanisms: through
a dedicated in-pixel circuit or extracting the correlations at the periphery
of the array providing a timestamp for each event.

Project

WALLIE

Funding

ESA GSTP

Target application

Flash LiDAR for autonomous space navigation and landing

Main characteristics

64 64-pixel array, with each pixel including a SPAD and a TDC and
featuring high background rejection capabilities.

Description

Each pixel correlates photon detections with the neighbors in a
distributed manner, with no impact on lateral resolution. An in-pixel
feedback loop tunes the pixel sensitivity according to the light intensity,
optimizing sensitivity while avoiding pixel saturation. First- or last-event detection strategies
prioritize close or distant targets.

Quantum imaging, FLIM, scientific imaging

Main characteristics

224 272 array of SPAD-based pixels supporting multiple working modes.

Description

Each pixel can operate in one of the following configurations: fine
timestamping, coarse timestamping, gated photon counting, binary imaging.

Main characteristics

500 500-pixel image sensor with on-chip processing capabilities.

Description

The chip performs background subtraction and Center of Mass
calculation on multiple, programmable regions-of-interest with custom size
and shape.

Target application

Quantum Random Number Generator

Main characteristics

Monolithic QRNG

Description

The chip has the capability to generate random numbers without the use
of an external source of light. In the present approach, SPAD devices are
used as emitters and as detectors. An embedded logic distinguishes dark or
other unwanted/uncontrolled events from events generated by the integrated
photon emitters.

Target application

Hadron therapy

Main characteristics

64 64 pixels monolithic HV-CMOS sensor for hadron therapy with time stamping
capability and in-pixel ADC

Description

The pixel can be configured to measure the energy or the arrival time
of detected particles in a short time window, or it can count events for a
pre-defined observation time. The adopted solution uses a signal gating
followed by a sample and hold and in-pixel single slope ADC to avoid pile-up
effect when the flux of protons is high.
