    The Bruno Kessler Foundation has launched the project named PIZ-Gamma in collaboration with the National Institute for Astrophysics, SAT, MeteoTrentino, and MUSE. This project offers an educational program for high school students focused on the capability to detect Gamma rays generated during thunderstorms.

    The Center for Sensors & Devices of Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) has recently acquired a tabletop scanning electron microscope. Thanks to this system, our researchers can expedite their research activities, carry out tele-microscopy experiments with external companies, and engage in scientific outreach activities outside of FBK.

    Bruno Kessler Foundation researchers are part of an international group that is exploring how organic transistors can be used in future flexible electronics and sensing applications. Dr. Ali Nawaz, who works as a researcher at the Center for Sensors and Devices, recently collaborated with Prof. Prashant Sonar, Prof. Wei Lin Leong, and Prof. Carlos César Bof Bufon. Their study demonstrated the potential of organic transistors for bioelectronic applications and flexible electronics.

    Springer Nature has announced the release of the book "Handbook of II-VI Semiconductor-Based Sensors and Radiation Detectors", a comprehensive overview of semiconductors in the II-VI group and their applications in radiation detection. The book features contributions from a variety of experts, including Andrea Gaiardo and Matteo Valt, members of the MNF unit at the SD Center of Fondazione Bruno Kessler.

    In February 2023, the ELI-ERIC European research consortium and Fondazione Bruno Kessler signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for science and technology cooperation. This MoU aims to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutes and to advance the research in various fields of science and technology.

    The recently concluded INSPYRE school was finally held at the Frascati National Laboratories after three remote editions. The school focused on interactive presentations and hands-on experiments related to the most recent and exciting results. Our FBK researchers met with students and tutored the course "Nanotechnology for environmental monitoring".

    Silicon Photomultipliers designed and manufactured by FBK have been selected for the focal plane of the pSCT telescope, installed in the VERITAS (Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System) observatory site, in Arizona, USA, which has recently detected the gamma-ray signals from the Crab Nebula. This marks an important and prestigious achievement for the FBK research team that developed this SiPM technology.
