Renewal of ISO 9001:2015 certification for MNF unit

27 November 2023

We are pleased to announce that on 7th November the Micro and Nano fabrication and characterisation (MNF) facility underwent the annual Rina certification audit. During the annual audit, two certifiers examined MNF’s quality system with positive results, renewing the ISO 9001:2015 certification once again.

Since 2012, the MNF Facility of the Center for Sensors & Devices has been committed to making quality one of the guiding principles of its activities.

The quality policy of the MNF unit supports its mission: to play a leading role in the field of micro- and nanotechnology as an open, world-class facility, ensuring R&D activities in analytical methods and services for the characterisation of surfaces and materials, development and production of radiation detectors, devices, MEMS and nanotechnologies in cooperation or under contract with FBK-SD research units, as well as with institutional and industrial partners and customers.

The main strengths of the MNF unit are its capacity for technological innovation, the know-how developed over decades of intensive work and a wide range of products and services available to institutions and private companies.

MNF’s management is fully committed to implementing these strategies in a continuous effort to improve quality, with the support of Quality Manager Erica Iacob. This commitment is also reflected in the effective dissemination of this Quality Policy through appropriate communication to customers, suppliers and partners.

These efforts include, in the medium term:

  • to expand the equipment line, replacing obsolete equipment and increasing processing and testing capabilities in the field of nanotechnology;
  • to improve the stability of quality-related factors such as recipes, environmental conditions, operating instructions;
  • to extend further quality control operations to R&D activities.
