  • Gas Sensors
The Gas Sensor Team (GST) specializes in the development of advanced gas sensing technologies, covering both fundamental research (TRL 1–3) and applied innovation (TRL 4–6). The team designs, develops, and tests sensor platforms for various applications in research and industry. The GST expertise includes operando characterization techniques, such as confocal Raman spectroscopy, and sensor fabrication using 6-inch silicon wafers in ISO5/ISO6 cleanrooms at FBK. In-house gas test benches support comprehensive sensor testing, evaluation and validation in controlled environments. Through collaboration with FBK packaging group, GST delivers ready-to-use prototypes for applications such as air quality monitoring, precision agriculture, healthcare, and explosive gas detection. The team is active in publicly and privately funded projects with academic and industrial partners.
  • Spectroscopy for Quantum Photonics
The SMP area (Spectroscopy solutions for Material technology Platforms) applies advanced optical techniques—Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL)—to investigate nanostructured materials and defect centers in solids for quantum applications. These non-destructive, high-resolution tools provide deep insights into the vibrational, electronic, and optical properties of materials at the nanoscale. The group's expertise bridges fundamental research and technological innovation, supporting a deeper understanding of quantum materials and enabling the development of emerging quantum technologies such as quantum light sources, quantum sensors, and photonic integration.
