Biography

Francesco Ficorella is Head of the Micro Nano Facility (MNF) within the Sensors and Devices. He graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2003 and received his PhD in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Trento in 2006, focusing on a CMOS image sensor for 3D vision. Since 2007, he has been working as a researcher at FBK, contributing to the development and fabrication of advanced microsystems and sensor devices. He coordinated the Testing Laboratory from 2018 and the Back-End Area from 2023, gaining extensive experience in device characterization, testing, and packaging processes. His work includes the development of devices for aerospace applications, such as photodiode and phototransistor arrays, which underwent qualification processes supported by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the European Space Agency (ESA). As Head of MNF, he oversees a multidisciplinary micro- and nanofabrication infrastructure supporting research, prototyping, and technology development across several application domains.
