Non-Dualism as a Research Paradigm: FBK's Sensors and Devices Centre at EUARE 2026

The Sensors and Devices Centre at Fondazione Bruno Kessler contributed to the annual conference of the European Academy of Religion (Rome, June 30-July 4), alongside FBK’s Institute for Religious Studies, with the panel “Unity and Differentiation. Inquiring Non-Dualism as Interdisciplinary Paradigm.” Director Richard Hall Wilton, physicist Rossana Dell’Anna, and anthropologist Sara Hejazi examined how non-dualism – the dissolution of classical dichotomies between subject and object, consciousness and matter – might serve as a shared interpretive framework spanning quantum mechanics, biochemistry, morphogenesis, and theories of consciousness.

The dialogue between physics and anthropology brought together the empirical insights of advanced physics with the cultural and symbolic dimensions studied by the social sciences, in an effort to build a shared conceptual vocabulary for addressing complexity in both natural and human systems.
