Biography

Andrea Bonzi was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1995. He is a Ph.D. graduate in Electronic Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he’s also attended both his B.Sc. (2017) and M.Sc. (2020), always in Electronic Engineering. His research centred on single-photon detectors, Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) in particular, with a strong focus on the experimental characterization of already-existing sensor structures and the development and modeling of newly ones. Starting from June 2024, He is employed as a researcher at the Integrated Readout ASICs and Image Sensors (IRIS) unit of Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), working primarily on the development of quantum systems for application in the fields of sensing, imagining, simulation and communication. Such activity involves the definition of the sensor architecture, the design and simulations of the circuit schematics, the chip layout and the electrical and functional characterization of the fabricated systems.

Expertise

  • Analog integrated circuit (IC) design
  • Electro-optical characterization of ICs
  • TCAD simulation of opto-electronic devices
